Wilson and Julie Adams have a heart for the fatherless and a heart for every parent who walks this difficult journey. In the fall of 2016, they boarded a plane for Bulgaria and spent a week with three siblings living in a small mountain orphanage in the Balkan Mountains. Five months later they returned to adopt them.
Wilson and Julie have learned that adoption is more than opening your heart and home to the least of these. There will be bumpy roads and potholes you didn’t see coming. Reaching out to children of trauma-loss carries huge risks, but also huge rewards. The work, however, can be painfully slow. In the process of the work, they have learned that God can take broken pieces and blend them into a beautiful mosaic of love. Julie is an R.N. with a B.S. in Health Care Administration and has over thirty years experience in the medical field. She is a Certified Mental Health and Addictions Coach. Wilson is author of over thirty books on spiritual and behavioral themes. He is currently in the Indiana Wesleyan University Psychology of Human Behavior program. He is also a Certified Mental Health and Addictions Coach.
Each of them offers face-to-face or Facetime coaching that includes areas relating to marriage, mental health, addictions, and adoption issues. Together, they are co-owners of Courageous Living Books. Having raised four (all grown and married) and facing an empty nest, they chose, instead, to share their Tennessee home with three more children: Lea (17), Alex (14), and Christopher (13) and a much beloved Golden Retriever named Lucy.
